A misty start to the day meant there was no real possibility of exploring glaciers, so we drove to Hokitika instead and had a delightful breakfast. We then continued on a most scenic drive through glacier country up the west of NZ's South Island (with plenty of breaks) and across to Mapua.

We were relieved to find that the planned camp site did indeed require clothing (but clothing is only optional in Feb and March). We took and evening stroll to the local watering hole/ wharf where we resisted dinner until 2 glasses of wine in and then opted for pizza (yippy!). To top it off, the walk back to the van even ticked off Joe's smart watch daily exercise objective, so no need to walk around the campsite tonight. :-)
