Awesome day. Up at the crack of dawn (6) and joined the GoOrange team at the docks of Manapouri. A scenic ferry & bus ride then delivered us to Deep Cove, where we kayaked along Doubtful Sound. After what felt like far too short a time on water, we returned via the same route to Manapouri.

We then visited the very helpful Fiordland information centre, caught up on weather and possible local-ish hikes. Bolstered by the staff’s enthusiasm and feeling the pressure of downpours tomorrow, we shot up to the Fiordland National Park for a 3h hike up Key Summit. We decided to skip returning to yesterday’s campsite in favour of one conveniently located in the park -which has to be one of the most beautiful campsites on earth. Joe worked on his reheating skills again for a well deserved beans&cheese dinner (with left over lunch sandwiches he he).
